Central City Chamber Board Member
Kari Valentine
Kari Valentine
For over 20 years, Kari has been working as a pediatric occupational therapist in different capacities. She graduated from the University of Southern California in 2002 with occupational therapy and occupational science degrees.
She worked on both coasts but eventually returned to her beloved Nebraska. She has worked in the traditional clinic/hospital/school settings and has owned a private practice specializing in non-traditional therapy (hippotherapy, aquatic therapy, and assistive technology).
Kari has been an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) since 2008. In the last several years, she has had the opportunity to develop some of her dreams by creating software and starting FLY Learning Technology, an assistive technology consulting service that works with schools, parents, and other professionals to find technology solutions for individuals with differing abilities.
Volunteering is an important outlet for Kari's passion. She has training as a parent advocate through Wrightslaw, is a former board member for the Arc of Central Nebraska, and volunteers for several youth organizations throughout Nebraska.
Kari, her husband, Shade, and their four children live in rural Central City. Her second child, Briggs, has a genetic disorder and apraxia. Kari says Briggs has been her best teacher and completely changed her mindset as a mother, therapist, and advocate.
Kari says she has found her purpose at Opportune Acres Her motto is "see a need, fill a need."
We’re grateful for Kari’s dedication to our community and excited she has chosen the Chamber as another outlet for her service!
