VISIT US ONLINE
Clarks is named after Silas H. H. Clark, the 8th president of the Union Pacific Railroad. Originally known as Clarksville, the town was established in 1866 by the railroad.
Unlike many communities that have lost their brick streets, Clarks has maintained its historic streets from the 1900s. The Lincoln Highway runs through town, and the Clarks Public Library is one of the last Carnegie libraries, listed on the Nebraska Historic Registry.
Some local businesses include Strobel Energy, Strobel Manufacturing, Hans Service, Cedar Valley Lumber, Clarks Trikes & Bikes, and Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company. In 2023, the Community Development Agency of the Village of Clarks was created to promote growth by building SPEC homes. Two homes have already been constructed, with plans for more.
We are located between Columbus and Grand Island on Highway 30. Stop in and say hi!
